Hello gr.9 class. This will be my last post about China. And because we are having a luncheon to talk about our countries, I have decided to talk about popular Chinese food. Here are the best foods:
Dragon Beard Candy.
Made by experienced people, it is a lump of sugary stuff that is stretched like crazy until is is about 4000 strands. The strands are wrapped around coconut and peanuts. It must be eaten by 1 hour after it is made or else it loses it's texture.
Wonton Noodle Soup.
This is a very well known Chinese dish. It is made by wrapping meat or veggies in noodle dough and boiled with salt, spices, and garlic or chopped green onion. It can also be deep fried.
Pitaya or Fire Dragon Fruit.
This is sour and juicy and is happily consumed by the people of the province of Guangzhou. It is said to taste kind of like kiwi. The pinker the flesh, the sweeter it is.
This is just a few of the foods of China. For the luncheon, I want to bring the Dragon Fruit. Goodbye forever bloggers.
That food sounds very good James. I love Chinese food! However, I don't really eat the traditional stuff such as sushi and dragon fruit. I prefer eggrolls and wonton soup! Wonton soup is definatly one of my favourites. I have to admit, those Chinese people eat some pretty weird things. I don't think I'd be able to stay in China for very long because of the food. I've enjoyed reading your blog over the past few weeks and I'm excited to see what you're going to bring in for the brunch-in.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures make my mouth water James. I have only tasted 1 of these dishes though, the Wonton soup. I have not had it deep fried, though. Also, that dragon stuff sounds AMAZING! the Food of the UAE is not really similar, though. I definitely had fun reading all your blogs.

I have to agree with Jenn and Sam - that food looks good! Especially the wonton soup! The dragon beard candy looks really strange and difficult to make, I wonder if it tastes anything like cotton candy. The dragon fruit looks really cool on the outside and interesting on the inside, I would like to try it! China has a very distinct and unique cuisine, unlike Australia. I enjoyed reading your blogs too.
