The Last Post

Hello gr.9 class. This will be my last post about China. And because we are having a luncheon to talk about our countries, I have decided to talk about popular Chinese food. Here are the best foods:
Dragon Beard Candy. Made by experienced people, it is a lump of sugary stuff that is stretched like crazy until is is about 4000 strands. The strands are wrapped around coconut and peanuts. It must be eaten by 1 hour after it is made or else it loses it's texture.
Wonton Noodle Soup.Wonton 1.JPG This is a very well known Chinese dish. It is made by wrapping meat or veggies in noodle dough and boiled with salt, spices, and garlic or chopped green onion. It can also be deep fried.
Pitaya or Fire Dragon Fruit. This is sour and juicy and is happily consumed by the people of the province of Guangzhou. It is said to taste kind of like kiwi. The pinker the flesh, the sweeter it is.

This is just a few of the foods of China. For the luncheon, I want to bring the Dragon Fruit. Goodbye forever bloggers.

Chinese Inventions

http://www.tooter4kids.com/china/fun_facts_about_china.htm
http://history.howstuffworks.com/asian-history/10-ancient-chinese-inventions2.htm
This time I will tell you about different Chinese inventions. Here is the list with the explanations:
1. Ice cream. In about 2000BC, Chinese people packed a milk and rice mixture in the snow.
2. Gunpowder. It was written 1044 in the Collection of the Most Important Military Techniques,by Zeng Goliang.
3. Alcohol. In the 3rd century BC the Chinese found out a way to refine vinegar and soy sauce by fermenting them. Drinks soon came later.
4. The Compass. The earliest compasses were created in the fourth century B.C. They were made of lodestone. Lodestone is a magnetic iron ore.

Those are some of the Chinese inventions. There are many more but these are the most important. Good bye.

Today I will talk about the history of China. China started as a bunch of tribes banding together 5000 years ago to create the country. The time periods are separated into Dynasties. At the top of the page is a list of them all. Since China is now a "Republic"(Communist) country, there are no longer dynasties. The mist well known dynasty is the Ming Dynasty which is known for it's white and blue "Ming" vases and other dishes. They are very valuable and rare. They are very fragile because the glass is so thin. The Quin Dynasty was  best known for the construction of the Great Wall of China. It was at war very often with the mongols, especially before the Quin dynasty. The wall was created to keep the mongols out. Thanks for reading. I will probably write next week. Good bye.

Hi People. I will be talking about the Chinese economy today. The Chinese currency is called the Chinese Yuan (pronounced oowon). In every Canadian dollar, there are about 6.3 Yuan. This is a Yuan. There are 10 Jiao in every Yuan. There are 10 Fen in every Jiao. The coins in the photo from top to bottom: 1 Yuan, 5 Jiao, 1 Jiao, 5 Fen, 2 Fen, 1 Fen. The Jiao and the Yuan are also produced in paper money. As of 2011, China was in about 1.66 Trillion dollars (American). That means that the average debt per person is about $1236. In comparison, Canada is almost 581 Billion dollars in debt. That means that the average debt per person is about $17,033. That is an insane difference. Until next time, good bye

Tourist Attractions

http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/
Hello. Today I will talk about the tourist attractions of China. The first that comes to mind is the Great Wall of China. It is about 8851.8km long even though some parts are in ruin and others have disappeared. it took about 2000 years to build. From the Warring States Period (476 BC-221 BC) to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It was made to protect the Chinese from the Mongols. It was worked on by over 100 000 people. If they died when working, they were put inside the wall and sealed in. Next is the Terracotta Warriors. There are over 7000 warriors and each one is different. There are also Many horses, chariots and weapons. They were made to protect Qin Shi Huang. The first Emperor of all of China. It took 11 years to complete and he started when he ascended to the throne when he was 13. These are only 2 of the hundreds of tourist attractions in China. Some day I wish to visit these places.

Everest with Nepal and it is the highest point in elevation (8850m). It's lowest point is Turpan Pendi (-154m). The total amount of men and women who are fit for war and are trained and come into a fight are 618,588,627. Canada has a POPULATION of only 32,000,000. That is funny. The capital Beijing Hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics in a 1 billion dollar stadium they built just for the occasion called the Bird's Nest.
